reaching out MBA conference - web design

type of project: web design

after developing the logo design for the reaching out 2008 LGBT MBA conference, the next step was to create an online presence that would promote, inform and connect people to the 2008 conference in washington DC. the website needed to be professional, and easy to update for the conference organizers. so i programmed the site on wordpress, and gave an online training of how to update, correct, change, and add things to the website… all without having to know anything about web “code.” both i, and my client, are very happy with how this site turned out.

brian’s bistro spices

type of project: web design

this is the tasty part of my job as a freelance designer. i have the wonderful opportunity to work for people who create yummy things, like brian’s bistro spices! this site was my first experience using the e-commerce web hosting, shopify.com, and i highly recommend them! and i also highly recommend briansbistrospices.com, because the spices that i bought the other day smell/taste AMAZING. :-) it’s a rough job i tell ya…

divine word lutheran - website design

type of project: web design

the goal for this website was to create something that could be very easily updated. so i set up the whole site on wordpress, and gave pastor gaeta the login information and let her go to town with adding content. i also created a flickr account to make it easy for anyone to upload more pictures.

on3design - website

type of project: web design

on3design is a husband-wife photography team. the goal for the website was to basically create a nice simple “canvas” to showcase their photography. their photography is amazing and i wanted all focus to be on their work.

miltown kings - website design

type of project: photography, web design

the miltown kings are a drag king troupe here in milwaukee. their website was very out of date and not very user friendly to update. since most of the “kings” had full time jobs and were not web programmers, they needed a website that could fit around them. also, through getting to know them personally, i learned how much deeper the troupe’s passion was. the drag kings had plenty of fun, but were serious about social justice and raising awareness for a wide variety of causes and organizations. this website includes space for all of those aspects, as well as an easy to use “back end” so that anyone can update the website. i also had the opportunity to be the official photographer for one of their shows. (those photos can be found here.)

expressions - postcard design

type of project: photography, print design, web design

in 2006 i was asked to design the marketing materials for a one day conference called “expressions: sexuality & faith” which was held at the university of wisconsin- milwaukee. this postcard design was also created into handouts and posters (including a nine foot by nine foot banner that was displayed in the uwm union.) i also designed a website for the conference, did the photography for the design as well as the photography for the event.

fuller still - website design

type of project: web design

with the photo shoot and “color and feeling” cd designed, next step was to update the band’s web presence with the new look and feel (pun intended). the site is programmed using a couple key tools to make it possible for the band to easily keep their website up-to-date. first off, wordpress runs the content on the front page (just like this portfolio actually) so the band members can log on and update the front page without having to know web coding. also they use an existing calendar at churchnoise.com for their concerts and have a myspace page blog as well. both of these “pieces” are automatically updated on their website as well.
